Last week in my Chinese Arts Class, we started carving out Chinese seals (图章). It took me about 2-3 hours to completely carve it.
In the Chinese culture, Seals are used to to in a way, "copyright" who painted who's work. After an artist is finish with their painting, they will use their seal to stamp (印) on to a corner which then completes the painting. Many people will write their names, a description of the painting, a Chinese poem, or Chinese idiom using ink (墨) which refers to the painting to give you an idea of what you're supposed to envision.

Saturday, I had planned to go to Underwater World with Allie and Ericka but it had been shut down so I had think of another idea. We met on Lieshimu (a street) to eat lunch. After that, we decided to go to Foreigners Street. It is a weird place, haha. We spent about to hours there and then went back to Shapingba. We took a trip to Carrefour to buy some stuff and then went back to my house. We bought avocados to make guacamole! It was soooo good. I want to eat it again! After we ate it we watched Avatar. Ericka hasn't seen it before. She said she liked it.This was my Saturday. It was fun!

Today, Chongqing thunder-stormed! I miss thunderstorms because CQ doesn't have them often, I only recall having them twice. When I heard the sound of thunder, I took my camera outside to take some pics. I wanted to see if I could capture some lighting. I waited about 10 minutes and then took a quick video. I went back inside and put my memory card in my computer and took a look at the vid. I got the lighting. Take a look! :)

Long time no see. It's almost been 6 months since I've blogged. I feel like such a slacker. It's difficult to access blogs in China which makes trying or wanting to try even more annoying. From this day forth, I will blog.
Since my last post, I went back to Chongqing from my month vacation in America. Friday July 2 was our last day of class for this year. It's crazy! I've been in China for 1 year. I can't believe it. I'll be going back to America on July 27 and coming back in October! I'll be gone for so long! I can't believe it. It'll be really relaxing but I'll be craving China for sure!
I love this country and it's people. There's something enchanting and moving about living here. I feel like America is now a vacation home that I can go to every other year. I don't want to go back to America for college or live there for a long time. I feel like this is my home. I miss my family and friends but I feel like this is WHERE I belong. God is so humbling. I didn't think I'd feel like this. I'm speechless.
I recently got back from Beijing and Xian. I went to Xian by train with Allie and Ericka and then I met Romain and Paul in Beijing until Paul left for America. I had a blast. I took a train from Beijing to Chongqing which was 24 hours but I enjoyed it because I slept for 20 hours.
Xian is famous for the great find of the Terra Cotta Warriors. Loved it there. Beijing is the capital of China which makes it pretty well known. I visited the Great Wall, Forbidden City, Summer Palace, and lots of ancient Hutongs.
I'll post some pictures when China lets me. Internet is being a little annoying today! ;P

"Located 165 kilometers from downtown Chongqing, Wansheng Stone Forest (wansheng shilin) is the oldest (formed during the Ordovician epoch) and the second largest stone forest (the largest one is in Guilin) in China. The forest here has a typical karst appearance, filled with sword, drum, pagoda, mushroom and bud shaped stones as well as animal shapes. This place in fact could be called a zoo of stoneware."
